- WELCOME -
I have worked in Southwest Florida as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for nearly a decade in a number of settings including Acute Care, Home Care, and Skilled Nursing Rehab. I appreciate the importance of staying fit, physically and functionally, to maintain our quality of life as we age. Prior to Occupational Therapy, I served proudly in the US army for 22 years. As a leader in the military, I was charged with the task of "keeping my soldiers physically, morally and mentally fit for duty". Fitness, training and general well-being is not new to me.
Strengthening/ Exercise PhilosophyResearch has proven older adults can use exercise and strengthening to stay strong, independent and avoid disability |
Balance36 million falls are reported each year in older adults. Research has proven balance training programs improve walking performance, physical function, decrease fear of falling and allow improved confidence. |
Daily Task IndependenceWhether you've had a recent decline in your physical abilities, or chronic (long term) medical situation that limits you in daily activity performance, there are proven techniques that may help you to become more independent at home and in your community. |
Individually designed programs are developed to work with clients in the comfort of their home, where convenience and safety are paramount. By working in the home this eliminates distractions and maximizes client's confidence. This approach allows them to concentrate on what's important: hard work, being in the moment, and openness to improve and change for the better. I believe this is the best environment to help people. As we improve on the activities, balance and strength clients return to or continue doing what they love.
